COOLER TEMPS ARE HERE: BRING A COAT!
Bethesda students in preschool-8th grade head outside daily for recess, weather permitting. Occasionally, high school classes will go outside, as well, for activities and recess. The shorter days generally mean cooler temperatures, especially in the mornings. All students need to bring coats to school in preparation to participate in outside recess. Please place your student’s name inside each item. Jackets/coats purchased from Land’s End have a designated place for labeling on the side seam by the washing instructions. The school is NOT able to furnish extra coats to students who forget to bring them.
Dress-Code Reminder: Non-BCS jackets and heavy outerwear may be worn to school, recess, and outside activities but should be removed inside the building. Items with the BCS logo may be worn inside the building.
BCS has also established guidelines for indoor vs. outdoor recess. Teachers will use the Apple Weather app, set to Haltom City, to determine the temperature at recess times. We will make adjustments as necessary.
Heat: When the app says, “Feels Like” more than 100 degrees, students will remain inside. Elementary classes will use the PlayZone for indoor recess. Middle and senior school students will participate in a variety of activities in classrooms.
Cold: When the app says “Feels Like” 32 degrees or less, students will have indoor recess. Elementary classes will utilize the PlayZone, and middle/senior school students will remain in classrooms. During cold weather, outdoor recess times for elementary students may be shortened. If the weather is both cold and wet, recess for all grades will be inside.
AND REMEMBER TO PACK A WATER BOTTLE, TOO!
Recess and P.E. equal thirsty kids! All students in grades preschool-12th grade need to bring refillable water bottles labeled with their names each day. Our facilities are equipped with water bottle refill stations, rather than water fountains. Please check to ensure your child has packed a water bottle before coming to school.
