Middle School

Our middle school lays a foundation for students to discern truth and relate biblical principles to their personal lives.

Our robust middle school academic program prepares students for a successful high school experience, while guiding them toward an understanding of academic stewardship. Students will have a foundation laid to discern truth and relate biblical principles to their personal lives. Their innate abilities will be sharpened, and they will understand that God has a purpose for their lives.

The curriculum is evaluated each year and organized at – or above – state requirements. In addition, our teachers integrate biblical principles in all subjects.

Bible is a cornerstone course for each grade level, seeking not only to build character but also to help each student grow in his or her relationship with the Lord. This is accomplished through daily Bible reading, journaling, and class discussions about topics that relate to the students’ lives. Current events are discussed to help students discover what the Bible says about pertinent topics in today’s society.

At Bethesda, we work diligently to set your child on the pathway to academic success. After completing middle school, it’s a natural progression into our high school program.

Academic Program

We offer age-and-stage teaching to students who are beginning to see themselves in a new way. We walk with students to “own” their faith.

In 6th grade, we teach Christian Foundations, which establishes the key tenets of the faith.

In 7th grade, we explore Biblical Wisdom, which is a walk through Proverbs and other Scriptures. This teaches students how to navigate life and relationships wisely.

In 8th grade, we teach the Life of Christ with a special emphasis on the Gospel of John, which helps students understand the teachings and heart of Jesus.

We approach Language Arts from a biblical worldview and seek to build competent readers and writers who possess a toolkit of creative and critical thinking strategies. Students will become more independent and analytical readers, develop their grammar and vocabulary, as well as learn the building blocks of effective essay writing.

We explore history, from the ancient world to the current age, through a Christian worldview.  An emphasis is placed on enhancing the students’ reading, writing, and oral communication skills, as well as their ability to demonstrate a knowledge of significant persons and historic events.

We provide a biblical and academically-strong view of the sciences. Whether the students are studying earth science, life science, or physical science, we emphasize God’s wonders and their application in our natural world. Not only are these subjects using up-to-date information, but they are also reminding the students of the unrevealed truths of God’s plans in our world.

We utilize Saxon curriculum to help students understand the number system, computation accuracy, and problem-solving and reasoning skills. Our desire is for students to explore God’s absolutes of the universe, using the facts of mathematics as part of God’s truth and order.

We teach Spanish through immersion. Students will be exposed to the language on a daily basis, using visuals, objects, and gestures to make the language comprehensible. Basic grammar will be taught and used in interactive activities.

Preparing students for their God-given calling.
