Our high school academic program prepares students for their God-given purposes, which may include successful college experience, while guiding them toward an understanding of career stewardship. Our graduates will be prepared to discern truth and relate biblical principles to their personal lives.

The curriculum is evaluated each year and organized at – or above – state requirements. In addition, our teachers integrate biblical principles in all subjects.

Bible is a cornerstone course for each grade level, seeking not only to build character but also to help each student grow in his or her relationship with the Lord. This is accomplished through daily Bible reading, journaling, and class discussions about topics that relate to the students’ lives. Current events are discussed to help students discover what the Bible says about pertinent topics in today’s society.

We offer multiple opportunities for students to connect what they are learning in the classroom with real world experiences. From internships to organized class trips, to community service opportunities, we prepare our students to apply their knowledge and skills to a wide variety of settings.

Dual-credit courses are also available to students, allowing them to receive college credit at a lower cost per credit hour than a traditional college or university. Through our partnership with Evangel University, our students are exposed to a variety of subjects that could guide their future academic or career interests. These credits may transfer to the college of their choice, potentially saving families hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars in college tuition.

Bethesda is committed to preparing each student for the possibility of college. At the same time, we understand the calling of God on each student’s life can be achieved in a variety of ways. Our aim is to help students understand and respond to the specific calling of God on their lives.

Academic Program

We seek to make disciples of Jesus by providing students with a Biblical foundation, while walking alongside them as they navigate a rapidly changing world.

For 9th and 10th grades, we offer Essential Christianity, which addresses a wide array of subjects, such as apologetics, theology, worldview, relationships, and leadership development.

For 11th and 12th grades, we offer Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey, including a dual-credit, college-level class that digs deeper into the foundations of Scripture. Additionally, we offer a course called Living on Mission, which prepares students for service, then takes them out into the community to serve several hours a week.

We teach our students to effectively communicate with others and express themselves through the study of vocabulary, grammar, and different modes of writing. They will also read and analyze literature in order to promote critical thinking, creativity, and a better understanding of the human condition.

Employing a variety of instructional methods, we teach students the ways in which humans interact through the study of history, geography, political science, and economics.

We provide a biblical and academically-strong view of the sciences. Whether the students are studying chemistry, physics, or anatomy and physiology, the emphasis is on God’s wonders and their application in our natural world.

Mathematics is the language God used in His creation of the universe. Building on math skills developed in elementary and middle school, our high school students will discover God’s logic, order, beauty and practicality in their study of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics.

We teach Spanish through immersion. Students will be exposed to the language on a daily basis, using visuals, objects, and gestures to make the language comprehensible. Reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the language are four basic components which will be emphasized, as well as a cultural component, in which students will become acquainted with different Hispanic cultures.

We offer in-person, dual-credit courses with highly qualified faculty. Our desire is to provide our students the opportunity to experience college rigor with a reputable university. Our College and Career Coach will walk our students and families through what works best for their academic careers.
