Head Varsity Track & Field Coach
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join Bethesda’s athletic department as the Head Varsity Track & Field Coach. As the head coach, you are responsible for leading and developing the high school track and field program. This includes overseeing all aspects of team operations, athlete development, and program culture while fostering a
Christ-centered environment that aligns with the mission of Bethesda Christian School.
This position requires excellent coaching skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for both track & field and mentoring student-athletes as they grow in their Christian walk, leading them closer to Jesus.
School Mission:
From preschool through 12th grade, our Christ-centered programs equip students to achieve excellence in their God-given purposes – in academics, fine arts, athletics, and service in the
community – all while consistently building and cultivating strong character. We want students to leave loving Jesus more than the day they came.
Responsibilities:
Coaching and Training:
- Develop and implement effective training programs and practice sessions to enhance
individual skills and team performance. - Teach and demonstrate proper techniques and strategies to maximize the team’s
potential. - Provide guidance and feedback to players to help them improve their skills and overall
performance. - Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes teamwork,
sportsmanship, and personal growth.
Program Leadership:
- Provide overall leadership for the varsity track and field program, including vision, culture, and long-term development.
- Align program goals with the mission and values of Bethesda Christian School.
Coaching & Development:
- Plan, organize, and lead all practices and competitions.
- Develop training programs that enhance athlete performance across all track and field
events while promoting skill development, discipline, and competitive excellence.
Team Management:
- Evaluate assistant coaches, delegating responsibilities and coordinating practice
schedules. - Monitor and assess player progress, conduct individual evaluations, and provide regular
performance feedback. - Promote team cohesion and camaraderie by fostering a positive team culture, emphasizing communication, respect, and accountability.
- Maintain open lines of communication with players, parents, athletic administration, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching track & field at the high school or college level is
preferred. - Strong knowledge of cross country rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Proven leadership abilities and the capacity to manage and mentor a diverse group of
athletes. - Organizational skills to plan and execute practices, games, and team events.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Valid coaching certifications and/or willingness to obtain necessary coaching credentials.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Certifications:
- Ability and willingness to drive a school van to and from games.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Coaching certifications from reputable organizations or governing bodies.
Note:

This is a stipend position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work evenings and weekends, as required by the team’s schedule.
