Head Middle School Volleyball Coach
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Volleyball Coach to lead and
develop our Bethesda Middle School volleyball team. The ideal candidate will have a
strong background in volleyball, coaching experience, and the ability to motivate and
inspire young athletes. As the Middle School coach, you will play a crucial role in fostering
skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive experience for our
student-athletes.

From preschool through 12th grade, our Christ-centered programs equip students to achieve excellence in their God-given purposes – in academics, fine arts, athletics, and service in the
community – all while consistently building and cultivating strong character. We want students to leave loving Jesus more than the day they came.
Responsibilities:
Player Development:
- Design and implement effective practice plans to improve fundamental
skills, techniques, and overall volleyball knowledge. - Provide individualized coaching and constructive feedback to players to help
them reach their full potential. - Foster a growth mindset and promote continuous improvement among
team members.
Team Development:
- Develop a cohesive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline,
teamwork, and sportsmanship. - Encourage camaraderie and a sense of belonging among players, promoting
a positive team environment. - Collaborate with the varsity coach to ensure a smooth transition and
alignment of coaching philosophies.
Game Strategy:
- Analyze opponents’ strengths and weaknesses to create effective game
plans. - Teach players the importance of strategy, positioning, and decision-making
during matches. - Prepare the team mentally and physically for each game, focusing on building confidence and resilience.
Communication:
- Maintain open and consistent communication with players, parents, school
staff, and the athletic director. - Provide updates on team progress, game results, and any relevant
information to all stakeholders. - Address concerns, resolve conflicts, and foster a positive relationship with
parents and the larger school community.
Safety and Ethics:
- Ensure the safety of players during practices, games, and team activities.
- Promote good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and adherence to team and
school rules.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience, preferably in volleyball or a related sport.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, strategies, and fundamentals.
- Enthusiasm for working with middle school student-athletes and a commitment to
their development. - Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire players while maintaining a positive and inclusive
team culture. - A strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and professionalism.
Certifications: (preferred, but not required)
- Ability and willingness to drive a school van to and from games.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Coaching certifications from reputable organizations or governing bodies.
Note:

This is a stipend position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work evenings and weekends, as required by the team’s schedule.
