Families that were not able to apply this year for Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) funds, but are interested in doing so next year can indicate early interest on this form. As of August 3, 6,000 families had already completed this form. The information collected will be useful as the Texas Legislature contemplates how much to increase funding for TEFA accounts.
Key TEFA Dates
- July 31: Schools must confirm enrollments of students who made selections by July 15.
- Mid August: First round of funding (25% of total award) to be available in parents’ accounts on Odyssey’s platform (if school was not selected by June 1).
- Rolling Cycle: Students admitted off the waitlist will have different deadlines for school selection and enrollment confirmation.
- September 15: All steps must be completed by recently admitted students in order for them to receive the full funding amount. After this date, amounts will be prorated.
- October 1: Second round of funding (25% of total award) to be available in parents’ accounts on Odyssey’s platform.
- February 1, 2027: Final round of funding (50% of total award) to be available in parents’ accounts on Odyssey’s platform.
